Keep moving and stop sitting. Do stuff!
NO white food, flour, rice and such. Go brown/whole grain.
NO processed foods with all that sodium and BS that you can't pronounce.
Do you really need sugars and all that salt in/on your food? NO! Experiment with healthy spices to spice up your life.
Fried foods very very bad bad bad but oh so good just say no!
Vegetables vegetables vegetables, oh and some fruit.
Lots and lots of water. Sodas? Throw them out, not doing you a bit of good or quenching thirst. Water and more water.
Oh I loves me a potato with unsalted butter! Better for me is a potato with homemade salsa.
It is really and truly not that hard.

Sorry, carry on ...

I do all of that!

Except I don't put butter on my potato, just black pepper. And I don't eat a lot of fruit really, but everything else applies exactly!

I vote for #12.

You may want to get this book to help you learn to create an illusion of balance between your chest and lower half.

When I was younger, my mother was an excellent seamstress that made everything fit me perfectly and nothing looked "homemade". I had no idea that my lower half was hard to fit until I got married, moved away from home and had to shop for clothes. I would love to find (and afford) somebody that can design and sew for me like my mother did.

To add to that list: check labels for corn syrup, especially high-fructose corn syrup. Fructose---present in fruits and is one half of the disaccharide sucrose, better known as table sugar---isn't metabolized the same way as glucose. Fructose is easily converted to fat and stored in the liver and adipose cells.

Corn syrup is cheaper to produce than sucrose, so that's why processed food manufacturers use corn syrup and HCFS and that's one of the main reasons why the US has an epidemic of obesity and diabetes. MSG is the other big offender. It interferes with the way the your brain processes the message that you're full and can stop eating. MSG is a flavor enhancer that the food industry loves to use because it makes cheap, poor quality ingredients taste better. The sad thing is that the FDA allows MSG to be labeled under the category, "natural flavoring" when it really should be labeled as MSG or monosodium glutamate, especially since it can trigger some side effects in MSG-sensitive people.

Tip: If you love your soda and think water is 'bland' get those crystal light drink mix things! They even have lipton green tea ones now!

ETA: Post removed because I did not mean to hijack.......

Everyone 'fat' is not lazy nor eating an unhealthy diet.

I should let her speak for herself, but I'm SURE she was referring to "regular" folks that have no specific health issues that affect their weight. I have Fibromyalgia which affects my ability to exercise, and Hypothyroidism which affects my ability to lose weight and sometimes adds weight gain, but I certainly didn't take any offense. I know those things can't be helped. I think she was just speaking generally, health limitations aside.

I wasn't offended at all. I cannot even think of the last time anything offended me. Like I have stated before, words are the least offensive thing I can think of.

I did not mean for my post to sound rude or snippy. My apologies if it did

I did not mean to hijack this thread either........

I wasn't offended at all. Just reminding, generalized or not, was too stereotypical for me - probably due to lack of sleep - I am dead tired and can't sleep. AND like I said - I, too, still stereotype fat people. I no longer assume people that park in handicapped places and look healthy are healthy. I am making progress with my own generalizations & assumptions.

FM here too since 2002. Limits my walking.

You should see the looks I get when I order off the kid's menu when we go to restaurants for anniversary or birthdays. I have only been refused once, until I spoke to the manager - comp my meal which I can eat less than half of, and I will order off regular menu. I used to bring leftovers home, but most times they get threw out, so why pay for what I can't eat? Some places let me order from my choice : kids menu or senior menu

Of course due to economy we have not been out to eat in a year, so may not have anyone so understanding next time I go.
Sometimes I just get a salad or a side of veggies

Sorry, I guess I misunderstood the sentence being in bold for being offended. FM since 2000 for me, limits most everything, it's pretty bad. Have to do things in small sessions, ie, instead of cleaning the whole house, I do one room only on a given day, etc. Still struggling to come to terms with my limitations; if I have a pain free day I tend to completely overdo myself and put myself out of commission for days as a result.

I too either order off the kids menu or order a combo of sides, baked potato and a salad, etc. Although I partially do it because I'm a vegetarian and sometimes the regular entrees are all meat dishes, so it leaves me stuck with building my own meal based on side orders or kid's spaghetti and sauce.

I too haven't eaten out in AGES.

And I too am extremely overtired, but going to *attempt* sleep now...
