Which duck breeds can go together?

Wait, so mallards are bantams too? And about call ducks flying can you clip their wings or is no use? Sorry for all the questions.

Yes mallards are classified as a bantam, I believe that you can clip their wings ( I would suggest asking a vet or a professional to do it). I don't clip mine, and they never go anywhere, because they know that I give them food, shelter and protection

I noticed you have wood ducks. Is caring for them any different than caring for other ducks? Thanks!

My mother has call ducks and never clips their wings. they can fly but usually stay close to home. When my parents went on vacation, mom brought her one mother call duck over with 6 babies. The mom didn't like staying at my house, (I live next door to my parents) so the mom kept flying home then calling to her babies. Of course the babies were in an enclosed area and couldn't go anywhere. I would have to go get mamma duck and bring her back. I finally just made a special place for mamma and babies back in her usual area where the other ducks were. She seems happy now. So, anyway I wouldn't worry too much about call ducks flying away. They should have a secure area for night because of predators. My mom lets hers out all day in the garden and puts them in at night. efowl has several different call ducks available....well out of stock this year but for next....I was considering getting some. I want some different colors than what my mother has. I just ordered 5 ducks from Metzer farm. these will be my first. My mom has had ducks for years though. I've always enjoyed hers. Especially, the call ducks and pekin.

Yes, its allot harder, they need a really large, fully enclosed area ( an aviary) to fly around in. They are not tame animals, and are very hard to catch. They are good to look at, but thats about all.

Oh yeah, sorry if this is off topic, but do ducks go in to their coop at night like chickens do? Do they roost?

My ducks all go in their houses at night on their own. We did have to heard the runners in for the first little while. The khaki campbells have always just gone right in. We have to keep everything locked up at night, too many wild things lurking close by. We even lost one of our runners in the middle of the day this spring.
