In general, no. Most hatcheries do not pursue SOP, instead opting for mass production rather than breeding selectively.

That said, Cackle is probably the closest you can get. Their Old English Game bantams, Welsummers, and French Marans seem to be quite good. I've also heard wonderful things about Cackle Spitzhaubens. If you go digging a little, they claim to offer/have offered exhibition-grade OEGBs and Silver Laced Wyandottes.

I get most of my bantams from a tiny local hatchery called Eagle Nest, owned by Ohio's top poultry show judge. Wonderful quality.

Just curious: what do you mean by, "bantams won't lay such a wide shade of eggs?" Are you referring to colored eggers, such as Ameraucanas?

I've been hearing but do not know if it is true or not that Bantams don't lay as dark eggs as the Standard size of chickens. Or like with the Welsummer are not spotted?

Bantams are hard to get to lay certain egg colors. Most breeds were originally taken down in size by breeding into Nankins or other true bantam breeds who all lay white eggs.

And you don't even have to go with 'local' breeders. There are some breeders who sell their eggs, or even chicks, online. Greenfire, for instance, is a well recognized breeder with what I understand to be high quality birds.
That is, if you're in the US. You don't have your location listed on your profile.

Green fire farms are good quality, but not show quality, even if they say so.

Most of my current flock came from Eagle Nest, we’ve been really happy with them! We also bought their meat chickens in the fall, and they were delicious!

:highfive: Have you tried any bantams?

Those super roasters certainly get inundated with shining reviews. :)

Living 15 minutes away happens to be unbelievably dangerous....:he It will be even more treacherous if I end up working there.
