Which Incubator to buy?

@TattooedMama Do you have any chicks yet!?!
I put them in 3 weeks ago wednesday at 6:45PM so last night was technically my day 21. I candled last night and they had nearly all 8 internally pipped and were moving. I don't hear any chirping though. About 10AM this morning I had one external pip. Going to head out for the day on a mini roadtrip and we shall see what happens when we get back later on today. At least it will take my mind off of it. This takes forever.

Well, the new R-com Max 20 is plugged in and seems to be working well. I just put eggs in it. The eggs started out at 64 degrees, and I am manually raising the temperature in the incubator slowly, and that seems to be going well. I'll post more details when I have more time

Anyway, for those of you who have R-coms, I have two questions. First, where is the serial number on the machine? I added water to it before I realized I needed the serial number, so I don't want to lift it up or turn it over to look on the bottom. There is a number on the back to the right of the cord. It's not labelled as a serial number. It just a barcode with a number below it. The number is RCM... followed by seven numbers. Is that the serial number?

Second question -- the written Rcom Warranty Policy states that if I register my information on their website (www.Rcom.co.kr) within 30 days of purchase that the warranty will be extended to 2 years from the date of purchase (and if I don't register my information that the warranty will only be one year from the date of shipment from the factory to the distributor, which is potentially a huge difference in starting dates, depending on how long the machine sat on the shelf before sale -- some machines could already have their warranty expired before sale under those circumstances). Anyway, I'm having difficulty registering it. Before I can log in, I have to sign up. I go to the sign up page and fill in all my information, then hit the sign up button. I expect to be moved on to the next page, but instead it seems to erase all my information, as it just gives me back a blank sign up page. After this happened twice, I thought that maybe my information had been received and that now I had to go to the LogIn page, so I tried that. But when I put my information into the Login page, it said that I needed to sign up before I logged in, and referred me back to the Sign Up page.

I e-mailed the company and told them that their Sign Up page is not working for me, so hopefully they will respond. I realize that I am fairly computer clueless, and the smallest things will stop me in my tracks, so I was wondering if anyone on this thread has ever registered their R-com online for the extended warranty. If so, did you have this kind of problem? What did you do to get around it successfully? It's possible that the page just isn't working today, but it's equally possible that there's some little bitty thing that I did or didn't do that's causing the issue.

I have the RCOM Pro 20 and there isn't anything on the bottom of my machine. All the info on the back of the machine should also be on the shipping box. I just got mine of the box but I can't say what the number looked like of the top of my head.

Make one out of an old wine cooler. For about 150 bucks you can make one awesome incubator. I get 80-100% hatches out of mine.

Oh and I will have to get pic when this baby fluffs tomorrow and I take it out but it doesn't look blue or splash to me. I was supposed to have lavender cuckoos in this shipment and wondering if they are mismarked? That doesn't quite make sense though because the breeder would generally mark them as they were collected I would think. :idunno

ETA:: They must be splash. They just look very silver. My last splash chicks were very yellow so it confused me =) There are now two splash and one black chick. A second black is zipping

Thank you. I'll check my shipping box.

Woke up to two more chicks and at least 4 external pips. Can't see anything on the last egg yet but it is right between two other eggs, so it's a possibility there is one. :jumpy

6 Babies and the last two are both pipped externally. Wouldn't it be my luck, of 5 BBS eggs that made it to the end, 4 have hatched and are splash!! LoL, here's to hoping the last one is blue and a HEN.

We also have two blacks hatched and one more black in its egg working its way out slowly. These babies are shipped from Tennessee and they did very well. This is my first hatch in over 10 years and my first in the Brinsea. of 12 eggs, 8 were viable, 6 have hatched and 2 more are working on it. Not bad at all. The humidity was not an issue in the end and has remained fairly stable. I took out the extra containers for water just before the last chick hatched, then put one little egg slot from a carton with water back in. The wet paper towel allowed humidity to stay over 60%. Once the first chick hatched I removed the water to prevent drowning. I must say though that with 6, the bator seems super full already so I would say its not good for hatching. But its a $400 incubator...why should I have to buy/use something else for lack of space to hatch my babies? So that aspect of the Octagon 20 is crappy. I opened to removed empty shells to give more room and closed it up. Humidity goes up quickly, at least thats a plus. Pictures later tomorrow probably of all my babes when they have all arrived and are fluffy.
