I will be picking up 3 new chicks that will be at least 5 weeks old. Was planning on getting 3 barred rocks, and want to minimize getting a roo. If I remember correctly, I should look for wider stripes and darker overall coloring for a pullet. Is that correct?

Am also considering getting a silver laced wyandotte instead of one of the barred rocks. What should I look for?

thanks for the help.

Barred Rocks are much easier to sex, given the way the barring gene express. Wyandottes do not have any features that are apparent early on that would be indicative of gender.
