I was looking at the spiral legbands and I saw they were a lot cheaper and come in assorted colors instead of having to buy 50 of each color.do the spiral ones come off easy? Are they worth buying?

Okay so I saw one site that said bantams should have size #7 bands. Should I get #7 or #9 size bands??

Mine have the plastic spirals and they are fine. I put then on the hens when they were about fully grown though. They work like a key ring. I think they are alright for marking a small flock. I have 3 or 4 chickens of various breeds so it's easy to know the pink banded BR is Lilith and the one with the blue is Ruthie. The pink banded BO is Heather and the one with the blue band is Aggie. Since the bands come in about 7 colors you are limited to that though.
Good luck!

What do I have to put on the bands for the shows? I just put them so I know which birds are mine? Ohh and Chris, what is the price for the bandettes? I only see the prices for the spirals. I might just get them from a different site.

Size 11 is way to big. I use size 9 on all my silkies, males and females. Size 11's will slip off too easily and could ride up the leg and get stuck.

I've always used size 11 bandettes for my silkies. Sometimes size nine if I have a smaller pullet or hen. I guess my silkies have fat legs
