I was amazed to find out Crayfish spend quite a bit of time out of the water.....

I never saw them out of the water in Louisiana (except when we pulled them out) but in TX there WAS no water. I don't remember ever seeing the chimneys in La either, but I guess I might not have paid attention. A little pile of mud by this animal or that wouldn't be a strange thing there - mud everywhere, lol.

But I was stumped, and very curious, when they started popping up in the yard in Tx. :)

Yup, I know. But just the existence of crayfish who lived in or near the desert was strange enough to me. Rather like mountain-shrimp who dwell on land, lol, or tiny turtles who live in the forest canopy. (And I made those up, if they really do exist I'd be shocked)
