Is it maybe a toad?

If you were referring to my picture, then no it's definitely a frog. It and its buddies made a mess of my duck pond earlier this spring with their egg-laying orgy. Shoveled buckets full of frog eggs out and displaced them in a duck-safe pond nearby. Didn't want all them premature frogs to be turned into duck yummies. What can I say, I'm just that nice. lol!

I never saw them out of the water in Louisiana (except when we pulled them out) but in TX there WAS no water. I don't remember ever seeing the chimneys in La either, but I guess I might not have paid attention. A little pile of mud by this animal or that wouldn't be a strange thing there - mud everywhere, lol.

But I was stumped, and very curious, when they started popping up in the yard in Tx. :)

Yeah those mud volcanoes they hide in ! I used to see them all the time in Louisiana. But I was always looking for critters... frogs in the water meter thingies in the front yards ;)

Ohhh okay, that makes sense. I just thought since it kept coming out of the pond :)
