Hi,
I got two youngsters here and I thought up until today Sophie, a girl and Rusty, a boy. Today I noticed Sophie has long neck feathers and then, "she" alerted the flock . I am going in to get the camera for the forum and I turn and "Sophie" mates one of the BR's. Hmmmmm, now I am pretty sure I have my thinking wrong.

Which is which do you think?

Ellie, they're both boys. And not great quality for your flock rooster, either, if you want to produce nice looking chicks. If you want a rooster for your flock, when the weather is cooler over your way, I'll send you a bunch of Barred Rock eggs and you can coax Miss Lacy into going broody again, LOL. Dutch is making the rounds pretty well now and Mace wont be far behind, so your rooster will be Hawkeye's grandson. I guarantee better looking birds than you got from the feedstore. Im sure they're fine, but if you want a BR that really looks like one, you shouldn't use either of those. And one still may be a black sexlink rather than BR; in fact, I'm sure he's not pure BR.

Thanks for the replies...

I guess they served their purpose... to give my broody buff orpington babies. Now I will have to get rid of them. I really do want a good rooster for my flock.

I can wait til Lacy goes broody again and get a few eggs from Cynthia's beautiful flock. We haven't had much rooster luck though. I got all girls last time, lol.

Just talked to my neighbor. He has 22 female sexlinks so would love to have my rooster. I told him he could have them both.

Cynthia, we'll have to try it again, lol. I am sure Lacy will oblige.
