Which one of these is not like the other? What is it?

I ordered 15 Buff orpingtons st run from a hatchery. When I got my box there were 17 chicks. One of them quite different. Its a little larger than all the others has a bit longer legs and is almost florescent yellow the outer ends of the feathers are white... Its not as bright in this picture, but a few days later out in the sunlight- the little thing is bright. Anyone want to give me a list of the possibilities? Its kind of exciting, like waiting to find out what you planted in your garden because you lost your labels or flat out forgot to label it.

possible leghorn

i have a buff orp and a leghorn chick in the sme brooder and the difference is aparent but they can be mistaken for looking alike

the leghorn has a more yellow iluminous down and also leghorns stand slightly taller than a orp

it could also be a little male Red SL. They like to throw those into orders as extras because nobody wants them.

Well its definatley extra- I've been googling too ats almost as yellow as a deleware chick, I saw the golden sexlinks thats a possibility too. WHat do you think at about 4 weeks I can tell or a little later?

My guess would be male red sex-link (which are white) or a White Leghorn. It could also be a White Rock, but generally hatcheries don't send those as extras.

Well I've had them a few days now and the mystery chick is twice the size and about 3 times the weight as the others.... Which is something, considering that the Buff O's grow like weeds themselves! Big thighs too- that will bee some good eatin if this keeps up.

Yup, sounds like a meat bird. Keep an eye on it - I've heard of them trampling other chicks because of size differences (though if there's only one of it, might be ok). You'll have to sell or process it by about 12 weeks or risk it dying of a heart attack, basically. I think they call it "flip".
