Usually Cornish Xs are ready to eat by week 8, especially if you let them free-feed. I would not recommend letting the little thing die on it's own, as it's not a pretty way to go. Their blood pressure either ruptures their heart or brain from the stress of trying to support their overly large bodies, or they slowly suffocate themselves to death under their own weight.
