My EE is squawking up a storm this morning. It's time for her to lay her daily egg and she is causing a ruckus. Makes me wonder which of your girls make the most noise before/after the egg laying???

Our young Welsummer hen is the most obnoxious...

Go see if she can a) get to the nest box or b) if someone's in her box.

Not exactly the answer to your question, but while my chickens are still not at egg laying age, my Dominiques make the most noise. They squeak and squawk and gurgle from deep in their throats all day long.

My EE is the nosiest of the bunch. She is constantly "talking" to us and letting us know her opinion on EVERYTHING. She is also the loudest with her egg song before and after to let us know about her present for us. She cracks me up though and I wouldn't trade her for anything.

My Barred Rock GRUMPY makes the most noise before and after laying an egg - and she also likes to find the highest point in the yard when the sun is coming up and makes tons of noise! She wants to be a rooster. She is also the largest of the barred rocks I have.

I had a white EE that was definitely the loudest! Her first egg song went on for 2 hours:p Then she would squawk that she had to lay an egg, squawk that it was coming, then squawk to tell us what she did. But what was funny was when she would stand outside the nest boxes and squawk to announce that another hen was about to lay an egg!!

I have a few BR hens who cackle constantl, but do not lay constanlyy. Before I had RIR who wouldnt shut up, she was soon ate by a varmit.

My two Road Island Reds, Chatty and Cathy, are big yappers. I've never had such vocal chickens. AHappyChick gave them to me thinking they might annoy her neighbors.
