Hello there!:) I have two pullets (26 wks) and have been waiting for some eggs for quite a while! Yesterday, my Silver Laced Wyandotte was squawking in the morning (6am) and I opened the coop up (to let them into the run) and went back inside, usually both chickens will run out but only my Light Brahm a came out. After 20 minutes I knew something felt off I went downstairs and my Silver Laced Wyandotte, was scratching around in the nesting boxes. I went to work and came home around 3:00 pm I immediately went to the backyard and on the left hand side, there was an egg! It was not visible until I poked my head inside the coop. I looked outside the window and saw my Light Brahma go in the coop and sat halfway in the coop halfway out, she was squawking loud (that’s pretty normal for this sassy girl though) I didn’t think much of it but went back out just to visit them about an hour later. In the coop, there sat a huge long egg! We were overjoyed and very surprised. (It turned out to be a double yolker with about two times the egg whites too) today we saw our Silver Laced Wyandotte lay a very small egg the same exact size of the very FIRST egg we found. But we still have one question, who’s egg was the long egg we found? The small first egg could have been layed two days ago because we didn’t check and it’s not visible in the spot it was layed in and out Silver Laced Wyandotte could have simply been laying each egg every day. Or.. the double yolker could be layed by our light Brahma but what a coincidence it would be to have them lay their first eggs on the exact same day even though they are different breeds. Let me know what you think!

This is classic onset of lay behavior...I'm betting she's is the one who laid.
Brahmas often mature a bit later than most breeds.

There's a way to tell for sure tho:

Thanks for sending the link! Ill do the checks tomorrow and update you! But the other reason I think my Brahma could be laying too is because she squats, even if you just walked up behind her she’ll squat for a good five seconds. Her comb also has been getting a lot darker lately and her appetite has really expanded!
