I don't see why not? Depends on the hens you have.

Oh, we have a very large variety of hens. Some Brahma, Cochins, and normal ones like the EE and Marans.

You can use any rooster for breeding. It just isn't guaranteed to get anything with keeping out if every possible male

The only thing I would worry about is the rooster not being able to breed with the hens. My roos weren't ever able to.

Just because you use the silkie to breed doesn't mean his offspring are going to be good enough to be worth feeding and housing. You can put any male and female chicken together though to get chicks

Oh alright, got it . Again, just started researching breeding so I'm learning the basics.

So do you suggest I get 2 female ducklings with my order so my drake has more ladies? He's a Pekin, and I've always been interested in getting some runners to merge their little flock with.

If your breeding then it would be good to stay away from bantams since they are too small to fertilize large hens. You should get one that’s the same breed as your hens so you can have purebreds.

Does breeding one large hen breed with other large hen breed crossbreed into a hybrid chick? Like say if I took my lavender Orpington and mixed it with an olive egger, would that make a mix?
