Oklahoma is OK!
I recently acquired some cockerels that were a surprise. I would like to keep one, but I am trying to weigh my options as to which one. I have a Barred Rock and Easter Egger cockerel, about 8 weeks old. I am fond of them both, but I am having trouble picking which breed might be better suited for my girls.

I do not own any other Barred Rock chickens, but I do have an Easter Egger female. My female chickens are RIR, Andalusian, Barnevelder and EE.

What are your experiences with BR or EE roosters?

I am aware that nobody can predict what an individual rooster of a certain breed will turn out to be in temperament, but I still would like your personal stories of your experiences with these two breeds. Thank you in advance.

Pictures of both cockerels.

Not sure on which to keep, maybe @Overo Mare or @cherrynberry

But my experience with a EE roo:

Huge, pretty calm but wandered off a ton, buddied up with another rooster (barnevelder cross i think.)

He was pretty neutral in temperament, at about 6 months he didn’t crow, at 7 or so he did, and it was very nice sounding.

I can see that happening with this EE for some reason lol. But he is kinda my favorite.

Yes, he was the calmest out of all my roosters at the time (i had 3)

Never tried mating anyone either, didn’t show signs of aggression towards me or other chickens.
