Hello! Wanted to say thanks for the thoughts!
When I went to get the sand I couldn't get the river sand so I got this Coarse Sand. I've now finished the flooring, there's a few more thing for me to add (potted plants and more hides at some point), but I hope to move them in tomorrow.

That looks awesome!
Thank you! I am hoping it'll look even better when I add the plants :)
That looks fantastic. Once you get those hiding places in, you are going to have some very happy birds.
Thank you! My current quail are really just my pets basically, so I really wanted a fun and interesting space for them.

On the topic of hides I thought I might ask here.
Do you think these could make suitable hides? Like if I turn them upside down and cut an opening in it or something?
I like experimenting with different things and saw these the other day when I was shopping and got curious.

Those would work fine. Put two holes in each. That way, if a bird retreats to it and gets followed, they can still escape. They seem to like having more than one way in and out.

You can use just about anything as a hiding spot. Cardboard boxes, dollar store baskets, etc. Aesthetics are entirely up to you.

That good to know about having multiple entries/exits. I knew that was recommended for Guinea pigs and did wonder if the same applied.
I have decided to use the cardboard boxes that the feeders came in as temporary hides, I can swap them out for something nicer looking later :)
