Why do so many people on BYC know Italian?! Very frustrating as someone who knows spanish only to find that they learned the wrong language! I feel left out

I FEEL YOU! I am clueless when it comes to second languages (Except German.) But what is it with itallian?!

Looked it up and apparently the number of Italian-speakers in the US is rapidly declining . You know German? My parents know German, I picked up a few words from them.
