will be getting more chickens on friday.from a guy that lives near me he has cochins and japs . had thought about getting some cochins but now im thinking about the japs, so if you can chose which would you get????

Agrees with COCHINS!! The japs can tend to be a little flighty.. All my cochins have been great layers, broody's and pets!

Japs! I am not one for feather legged chickens. Its just a personal taste, but if it were me, thats what I'd do.

Both if you can... I have two buff Japs and when my one girl went broody, the other stopped laying eggs too. So I agree with the flighty part but boy they sure are pretty!

Both!

Never had Japs, but I know that Cochins are great pets, layers, and brooders. We have a small Bantam Cochin pullet and she's so small and cute!

About to get a little rooster for her, too.

I really like Japs more then Cochins. I would have some myself if it wasn't for me already having sooo many breeds to deal with as it is.
