Which Wyandotte would you prefer?

Well, come spring I'm ordering some from a hatchery

and I'm getting both. Along with a bunch of others.....I'm even ordering what the hatchery calls Americanas. But before someone does it for me, I'll say it--- they're really Easter Eggers, which are, of course, just mutts. I understand some folks are breeders and show birds and such. But a bunch of us just kinda like chickens, want some eggs in as many colors as we can get and and enjoy all the shapes, colors and sizes. I grew up with mutt, mixed chickens and the most fun ever---which is what I'm really after again at 50 something---was counting 21 days and getting up to see what colors of chicks hatched out of each brood. And then seeing what they looked like as they grew and feathered. I'm planning about 12 hens, no two the same breed, a mutt Easter Egger rooster and hopefully I'll end up with generations all mixed up chickens!

Not meaning to start a fuss or anything but, come on, plenty of people are completely happy with hatchery chicks.

And if I had to pick one, I would pick the gold.

Nothing wrong with hatcheries or mutts, it's just a preference.

What's wrong though is selling hatchery quality with show quality price, stealing other's images, and claiming to have good quality when one does not.

Absolutely.....but that's not the hatchery, that's a just somebody being a jerk.

Yep one of the most annoying contrivances on this site. Someone gets a few chickens figures out how to hatch them, creates a website and sells birds for more than a hatchery and feel self righteous about it. One of the things that I really find aggravating.

I find no defense for that behavior. I dont judge hatchery stock, they should just be represented as such thats all

I just acquired a new pair of Silver Laced Wyandottes and posted a thread about them. I have no clue where they are from as they were bought at an auction, no info attached.
I am very new to this breed and chickens over all, but I would love to get my hands on some Blue Laced Red Wyandottes.....

Cheers!

The reason I'm asking is because I'm thinking of selling some breeds to locals. I have nothing against mutts, I love them, it's just I want to sell pure breds.

But the mutts I have come in handy, because I'll be selling their eggs for eating eggs. No one is left behind.

There's nothing at all wrong with hatchery birds if they meet your needs.
There is something wrong with buying hatchery birds, hatching eggs from those birds & trying to pass them off as something they're not.
