Cricket popped up behind them, twisting her grinning head back and forth so that the disturbing reflections danced over theirs.
Rumble laughed and began also making faces in the puddle. Lightning was irritated at having her primping interrupted. She turned to Cricket and spat "Would you like me to instruct you how to be attractive? You seem to be having some trouble?"

Sand is laying with his head on Cherrys stomach. Winter was kind to her, he thought to himself. She is plumper than ever! Just then there was a jolt and vigerous rolling from inside Cherry, right beneath his head. Sand startled and sat up staring at his mates sleeping body with wide, curious eyes. Slowly he placed his slender paw lightly where his head had been. *THUMP!* He had felt it plain as can be, as though something small but very strong were inside her. His little heart raced inside his smooth chest. His ears pulled back, he nudged Cherry urgently. "Wake up, darling. Wake up! I'm affraid you swallowed your prey whole and you are quite sick! You must hack it up at once before it chews it's way out of you, Cherry! It's struggling in there to get free!" If a cat could wring it's hands with worry, Sand would be doing just that
Cherry was amused at her mates apparent nievete. "Don't worry, everything is fine. But I need my rest now and you should go." Sand was confused and a bit hurt. Cherry had never asked him to leave before. She could read all this in his movements and a pang of guilt went through her as she watched his forepaws gingerly back away closer to his body. But she was in a lot of pain and needed to be alone. She did not know how Lightnings magic may have affected what was inside her, because it had been growing their since before her death and ressurection. If the worse should happen she did not want Sand to have to see that. She was afraid and hot pain ripped through her strong body like real fire. Shed never shown weakness or lost her temper in her entire life, but she was on edge. She listened to Rumble, Cricket and Lightning acting foolish in the entrance and her ears flattened so hard they curled up at the ends...

Dawn looked up at the large tom and was about to speak when something rang in her ears. She looked at him and mewed, "Someone needs help!"
He looked at her like she’d lost her mind, “What.......” his mew trailed off; he heard it too.
(Why isn’t Meadow helping Embers?)

Rumble laughed and began also making faces in the puddle. Lightning was irritated at having her primping interrupted. She turned to Cricket and spat "Would you like me to instruct you how to be attractive? You seem to be having some trouble?"
Cricket blinked innocent eyes at Lightning and her huge ears fanned forward with accentuated interest. "Oh, sure."
