Wind fiercely attacked a tangle in his pelt, before suddenly fighting his tail. His face grew hot.
The started to fall more heavily. Wind was glad he had not chosen a nest directly beneath a leak. Some of the cats had an irritating drip landing on them.

"Hey, put that kiddo back! Otherwise I'll have to hear another of Ripple's stories. Ugh! Insufferable!" Ice shouted.
Ripple was suddenly alert and wide-eyed. "Did someone say stories?" she mewed roughly, removing her working paws from her face and folding them beneath her chest in preparation.

Fire began, "Long ago, in the acient forests lived a young cat named River. With River was Wind, Storm, Shadow, and Sky. They pulled together with many, many cats to fight the horror of Tigerclan. Tigerclan was one of the first. They were cats of the night, they had blazing orange pelts like fire that were cut with the darkness and striped with the night. 'We must flee,' cried many cats but not River. She was brave and challenged the leader for a piece of the land. Bright red blood stained the leaves as they fought. Teeth on teeth, claw on claw. The leader of Tigerclan was larger and stronger, but River was smarter. She drew him to the edge of a cliff and when he lunged he was plunged down into the swirling waters of River's dark river. To this day it is said to be dark with blood and stained with his screams where River watches his spirit drown day and night, cursed to eternal suffering."

Dawn gasped, like me she thought. I always thought I might be cursed.

"Yes, I did, I suppose," Ice rolled her eyes.

Rather violent for a kit's tale, thought Wind. But still, he relished the younger cat's storytelling. He's going to make a good elder. He also smiled at the inclusion of his name in the tale. He often teased himself about that.
