I had a pair, and found one dead in the water. I mistakenly thought it was the male...i tried to 'check' but it was dusk and well, I made an error I think . (new to exotics) ... so I got another male, thinking I lost the male...now I think I have 2 males , the older one kind of ignored the new one at first, now they hang around, but I think I have 2 males. The man who sold them said the males have kinda a puffy area near vent... someone tell me how I can figure this out...or do I just get a female and see what transpires.... they also are chasing the new manderins around... is this because they are new? or a coloration issue. They had gotten along with the redheads, the chestnut teals...and last year didn't see any chasing (except by a female hybrid)... I am considering I may need to divide the aviary... it is 400 sq ft. for the 4 pairs ...
