White boxers?

Boxers naturally will come out with 1 out of 4 white. The reason that AKC breeders will tell you that this is not true is because if they show a dog who had white pups... they already lost points. I know a friend who got a white boxer from their neighbor. She was one hour old and snuck over in the middle of the night. Why? Because she didn't want anyone to know her boxer had a white baby. Before, she would kill the white ones right away. The reason white is historically not favorable, is boxers were originally hunting dogs. You don't want a hunting dog to be white. That's it. It is that simple. Now, get the AKC to change their standard for the breed to reflect the times is another story. That is also why you will NEVER (until the standard the AKC puts out changes) see a AKC registered white boxer. If you do spot one... it's a scam. Go ahead... go to AKC webpage and see. I see and hear of that alot here where I am (near Tennessee's largest indoor flea market - full of dogs)... people saying they have AKC reg. white boxers... no they don't. NKC and CKC does register them, though.

As for white being deaf... most cats and dogs that are solid white tend to have a higher percentage of being deaf. That does not mean that they are all deaf. Also, two different colored eyes is another thing that happens to coinside with deafness.

White boxers are every bit as playful and loveable as brindle and fawn. DO NOT spend more money to obtain one. You would only promote the breeder to keep scamming. They are not more rare like they have you believe. It is simply genetics. 1:4 will come out white, 1:4 will come out brindle, and 1:2 will come out fawn.

They are NOT albinos. It is just the color gene. Not a mutation.

Here are my two babies... since we are sharing. Notice I don't have a white one... that's because around here people charge more for them. I refuse to pay more for a white one if I don't have to pay more for a brindle. Anyways. I hope you find the right dog for you and your family!

Yes white boxers can be AKC registered, white is considered a fault, but as long as the parents are registered the pup can be to.

Quote:
If the dog has more than one third of the coat white it cannot be AKC. If you see a white boxer "AKC" with a predominantly white coat, walk away.

I'd like to mention that the AKC papers are easy to copy and make false. Many backyard breeders make these papers up to make it seem like their dogs more valuable.
It's as simple as finding a scanned sheet online or bla bla. It's better to just adopt a dog from a rescue or shelter anyway...unless you show. :3

actually you can register an ALL white boxer with the AKC as long as both parents are AKC registered on a full registration, HOWEVER, being its a "fault" it cannot be SHOWN and would typically be sold on a limited registration (No breeding rights)

you can register ANY dog with the akc as long as both parents are AKC registered and both parents are of the same breed...

I could breed a AKC harl great dane to an AKC harl great dane get a litter of all white pups (which is a fault and not excepted in the ring and they ARE more prone to vision and hearing issues) and all the pups COULD be registered AKC...they just cannot be shown and they shouldnt be bred.

the previous poster is correct. The AKC will register a one-legged GREEN boxer with no eyes if its parents were AKC registered. Being registered has absolutely nothing to do with quality. Being bred by a breeder that strives to reduce/eliminate health problems through screening, only breeding dogs that meet the standards of type AND temperament increases the odds of having a quality animal.

Being a previous boxer breeder, I can tell you with certainty that if you breed "flashy boxers" that is, boxers with white between their eyes and around their collar area, you will get occasional white puppies. In our experience, as puppies, they tend to be bigger, and very robust. As adults, the ones we have kept up with are large, and healthy, with an above average number of skin complaints(frequent sunburn, and rashes as with any white dog--just like very pale skinned humans) We did have one deaf white baby, that did very well in a home that trained him usiing hand signals.

In Boxers, Fawn is the dominant gene. If you breed 2 flashy fawns, you will get fawns and occasional whites(approx 25 % although our numbers never came out that high.), and you may get brindles if both parents have a brindle gene masked by the dominant fawn. If you breed 2 flashy brindles, you will get brindle, and some white, no fawn as the parents both must have 2 brindle genes to express the brindle.

There are people all over who advertise "Rare White Boxers" This gets me so angry! They are great pups with the same wonderful boxer personality, but they are not rare.
