I see what you are saying. My mistake. Those are good looking birds of yours by the way. How are the roos temperment? I have 3 black giant roos that are down right pretty, but I had not initially planned on keeping them past cooking size.

Thank you! As you can tell, the males are pretty relaxed. I have some photos of them just standing by themselves. I had to wind up giving the flock to my cousins to show in 4H. They never laid any eggs for me to hatch! LOL!

But the temperaments of the males was awesome. Nice big birds with sweet dispositions and I LOVE the size!!

I hate to be asking so many questions but I want to know. Did you raise them up from chicks? My black giant chicks are a little flighty and do not prefer to be touched much less held. Will this get better in time or will they always be flighty but good mannered? Were your chickens this way? Thanks

Mine were flighty until their second year. Then they calmed WAY down. Just be sure to handle them as much as possible. Make sure to give them feed from your hand as a treat. They'll start seeing your hand and you entering as a good experience.

Don't be afraid to ask!!!

Right now they are so flighty that it is about all you can do to touch them. Do I need to make a point to hold each one everyday, even if its against their will? Or after they get the just, will this make them calmer? I know that even my troubled australorp roo( I think hes got mental defects ) will warm up to eat out of my hand, but is scared to death of being held. Thanks a lot for the feed back. I love the way the New Jersey Giant breed of any color looks and like you, love the size.
