White claws and feet on Guinea Fowl

Some of the Guinea Fowl show up here with bent-out-of-shape legs
Hop-a-long 2.jpg

An example of the bent-out-of-shape legs some of the Guinea Fowl here have. This particular bird (and its mate) is normally the last one to show up - sometimes even after the others have left, but it quietly calls to me to let me know it has arrived.

[The reason this picture is dark is because it was still early morning when it was taken.]

Guineas have very fragile legs. Some of their leg problems can be traced to genetics, some to nutrition and some to accidents, rough handling by people or predators or just plain accidents.

I had one hen rip her whole claw off by getting it caught on a fence. It was dangling by a piece of skin. I was fortunate enough to see it happen and disinfected, reattached and bandaged it in place. She healed fine. Another one managed to completely rip her toe off when I caught her with a net for other treatment. I wasn't able to save hers..

I gave up ever catching mine for any sort of treatment because of this sort of thing. I've even had one die from crashing hard into the coop wall after a forceful escape from my arms. And mine are pretty dang comfortable around me - eating out of my hand, coming when called, etc - so I can't imagine what it would be like trying to capture and treat wilder flock birds. Thank goodness they’re hardy and are able to bounce back from so many things life throws at them.

One of the Guinea Fowl that I was referring to showed up the other day but it was very difficult to capture good footage of it as the more dominant Guineas kept chasing it away from me (as seen for a moment in this gif).
The arrow is pointing at the Guinea with the stiff foot "peg-leg". You can't make it out in this gif but I assure you that it does have white claws; ...but thinking now maybe the white claws are just a coincidence? I am so unsure because this seems to be an infliction on the Guineas with white parts on their feet.

The one image above and one below are captured from the video. See how the bottom of the foot does not touch the ground. The foot does not seem to bend at the joints.
