White Crested Black Polish Roo. Bantam or Standard?

McMurray probably gave the Polish in as your free "rare" chick, even though they're not a rare breed they through in a random chick. My polish was my free rare chick.

Thanks everyone--I'll try that with adding a friend for the tot. I'd thought of it but haven't yet because I was worried that a new little non-crested one would pick at it too, and then I'd have two singular young'uns to keep apart from the big hens AND each other ;-). I could search around to find another young crested in the area. Worth a try. I do feed my girls yogurt with some oats for a regular treat, and I don't have a problem with any feather-picking with each other. Worry not, I'm not panicking, just getting information early on.

Heck, if that doesn't work, you can even ask your friend if they have even a non-crested chick, same age or a bit younger, that is being picked on in their brood. Just make sure to keep them separated for a few weeks to make sure neither have an illness.

SORRY IT TOOK SO LONG TO GET THE BATTERIES!
As Requested here's a pic of Batman! As you can see his crest feathers are coming back nicely and you can also tell he misses his fellow chickens.

Batman is very handsome from what I can see. Poor guy misses the fellow chickens, though! My little guy is still apart from the others too. I've tried reintroducing him slowly, but the MOMENT he is in with the others, he is hen pecked and I have to sweep him right out of there. Introducing him to other youngers his age doesn't work either--everyone wants to peck the fair headdress. I may have to give Mine (named Beau Peep) to a 4Her who hopefully has this kind of chicken already. It seems horrible to always have him alone. Best luck with Batman!

how about some kind of a hat....? They make those aprons...
It's just a thought.

I would make a black one, if you're going to try this.

I remember when Batman was just a little chick! Looks like he's grown up some! WOW, you're lucky.

That is one awesome crest. Gorgeous animal. You know, you can get him a crested girlfriend and I'm sure she'll be nice. Many Polish hens are timid around roosters...except mine, who would spar with the roostes whever they got in her way.
