I am looking for a small flock of hens for my rooster, Kevin. I really would love to find a new home for him, because he is interesting, smart, great with the hens, and of course, beautiful. He is flying at my 3yo, and that's just not stustainable. I would be ok
ending his life if he was one of those roosters who has so much testosterone flowing through their veins that they can't do anything but freak out on any perceived threat of any kind. But this guy is smart, cool, sweet... it just feels like a waste to slaughter him.
He is light bodied, can fly well, and is an excellent watch rooster. He stands guard over the hens very vigilantly. I clip his head feathers regularly, and if he is re-homed, that would have to be something you're ok with as well. He can't see anything once they grow in.
I bathed him recently, which he tolerated very well, and he is mite free. He is fed organic feed, and lots of fresh food scraps.
His spurs are pretty short, he lets me pick him up and scratch under his wings. I think he'd be an excellent asset to a small flock
in an area where your chickens are under threat from wild predators. (free range home only, please)
