White egg from a Rhode Island Red?

Chickens, being the amazing creatures that they are....can run out of pigment. Brown eggs are actually white shells with a brown coating. In all liklihood, your RIR will return to brown eggs at some point.

I've had brown layers that sometimes do funny things with their eggshell pigment mechanism. I have also heard that a lot of heat and sunlight will lighten the sells colors on all chickens.
