White egg laying chickens

My Ancona is bigger than my brown Leghorns. I think they lay about the same sized white eggs. The leghorns are skittish, but my Ancona, Connie is pretty friendly. She is the first one to greet me each morning. She is a little bossy, though, and pecks my feet if I don't give her a treat fast enough.

I really like my little SS Hamburgs. They aren't super friendly, but they like to 'hang' around with me. They lay smallish white eggs every day. And they get the most comments from visitors. They are very attractive and kind of perky.

My Leghorn gives me close to an egg a day in her second year. The white egg layers tend to be a bit more flighty.
Be aware that egg production will decline faster over the years with the white egg layers, so if you intend to keep your chickens as pets don't expect the white layers to continue laying as long as the brown egg layers.

Im glad i found this thread. I have 4 easter eggers and 7 chickens that lay brown eggs and 1 leghorn that lays white eggs. I want more white eggs but love the color veriety in my chickens so i have different breeds. I cant figure out what other chickens lay white eggs.

My leghorn has got to be my smartest chicken. I can call her name and she comes to me. Im not having any brooding issues and everyone seems to be living in harmony.

I like the color variety also, and have never been particularly fond of white birds. So, I have brown Leghorns. Same big white eggs, with colored birds.

I've heard there is a difference in production in the color varieties of leghorns - do you think your browns lay at a rate equal to the whites or, I guess what I'm asking, how many eggs, per week, do you average per each leghorn?

I'm guessing the RCBL do not lay as well as the straight combed birds. And I'd not be surprised if the whites lay better than the browns. I was not overly impressed with productivity of my RCBL. Have had mini whites in the past, and they laid very well, and had great feed conversion rate.

Kinda figured the further you get from the commercial breed whites the less productive they'd be. We had whites in our last flock and they were rockstars on feed to egg conversion, and really nice little birds, but like the look of the other colors too...decisions, decisions
