Yah, Terry's a good dude. I've ordered eggs from him but they didn't hatch (post office issues), but we are gonna order some chicks from him in the spring to add a new bloodline to our WFBS. Because he's a breeder and not a hatchery, I imagine his birds are a little more docile than these very beautiful and friendly but also flighty and loud buggers I got from Ideal. I want to get some chicks from Terry to breed to my birds for type, temperament, and appearance... I may eventually show some of the offspring if I get what I want out of them.
I also wanna get some birds from Jim Bell if I can. I also got eggs from him last summer, which the post office played football with. He sent me 2 dozen eggs, and 6 eggs out of each of the dozen cartons were broken, and the rest of the eggs and all the packing were covered in sticky egg goo. One of those dozen was a strain he developed of white faced BLUE Spanish that is now breeding true! I washed the remaining eggs that weren't smashed and set them anyway and hoped for the best. Unfortunately, because of the post office's treatment of the eggs, nary a one hatched. About half of the eggs I set developed, most of them quitting between day 5 and day 10, none of them making it to lockdown. So, I'm going to re-contact Jim and ask him how much he'd charge to ship me some live chicks. Post office out here seems to treat the chicks a lot better than they treat the eggs, so I think that would be my best bet to successfully get some of Jim Bell's birds. He's been breeding WFBS for almost 40 years and is a preservationist of the breed.
If I get birds from Terry AND birds from Jim and cross them, I bet I get some good birds that I can show.
