Hi there...here's a pic of our one year old hen. looks like a white calcified growth on her foot is getting worse, now its above her foot and on her let too above the foot. she doesn't seem to be favoring it much though, which is surprising. she's also been brooding for the past week, so she's been in a weird mood. we've been moving her out of the laying box, and she's been eating and poking around like normal when she's not sitting in the box. here are some pictures. I'd be so grateful if anyone can tell us what it is and what we should do!
Thank you.

Looks like scaley leg mites. Soak her legs with Vet Rx, vaseline or oil daily for a week or two and it should clear up for you.

I also have a rooster with this! does this affect thewhole hen house or the eggs from the hens? should I move him to another coop? how long should I soak his foot each day? he will not walk much on it now....I was looking at it and looking and spraying scarlet oil on it, but it is not helping....

Mites can multiple rapidly. My entire flock got them after I discovered them (took me forever to even realize it was mites). It got so bad that mites would be crawling on the eggs sometimes and I would get them all on me whenever I went into the coop.

I treated all the chickens and the coop with Sevin Dust twice (10 days apart). Then I just recently got some food grade D.E and haven't seen a mite since.
