white laced wyanndotte

I actually picked up some eggs from Big Medicine from his dad's BLR Cornish project. Nice birds, but you can see some of the Wyandotte in them that was used to get them where they are.
I am only an hour from Owatonna. That is where Duane Urch is too, by the way. He has some nice birds there.
If you do get up here, you better look me up!

I would love to make another trip up there. Its about a 25 hour drive but I am still young

Yeah I knew that Duane Urch also lived in Owatonna. Wish I could get a hold of Bob but all the email addresses and phone numbers I have for him do not work any longer.

I could say the same about coming down here to Texas. Of course once you visit Texas you wanna stay! haha

Interesting about the BLR Cornish.....any pics to share of those birds? Cornish are one of my favorite breeds as well......Im just a sucker for the heritage breeds of my youth I think..

That was my first generation male. I raised alot more of them that were a whole lot better than him in terms of lacing and color. But, I dont think I have a pic of any of those though.

Hopefully I can figure some way to keep em going. Just havent had much luck the past few years. Perhaps 2012 will be the year for their resurgence! The power of positive thinking

Thanks for the pics Big Medicine!! Nice looking birds...

Love seeing your projects and I am a fan of those Cornish. You may say they look more like Chantecler but honestly they look more like Cornish than the 90% of the birds that are sold in the US as Cornish.

Everything is relative my friend.

Thanks for posting, Gary. I am a step closer than I was before with the three I hatched from you. I have 2 cockerels and a pullet. I will use the boys over my girls outside once they are old enough and I have my pens all set. I am getting closer each day that the rain and snow stay away.
It is a project for me, but will be worth it if I can improve.
I have some folks a couple of hours away that raise Cornish also, Hadys? From pictures they look to have some nice bantams, but I have not seen as many of their standards.

I had a white laced red bantam cock that I got from a lady who always got free wyandotte bantams from a friend back east, forgot the name. She had a hen for him but she died from a prolapse. The red was such a dark red it was almost black on his chest. He died when we had a guinea sneak into the chicken coop one night, it murdered the WLR and some black wyandotte hens, I havent been able to find any since but as always I have a project in my mind involving making some WLR's but not with dom. white.
