I have 3 hens ( White leghorn, Barred Rock, and Buff Orphington). They are approx. 5 mos old. The Rock and Orphington have been laying consistently large nice eggs for several weeks. The Leghorn has laid 2 eggs, but small. She has layed several eggs that have poorly formed shells and she lays them outside the nesting box. She also seems to be outcast and the other 2 have formed a "click", but not being aggresive towards her or preventing her from getting food. Any ideas?

It sounds like this 'click' has her under a bit of stress. Then again, some hens are just naturally like that. Does she have enough calcium in her diet? Are they on layer feed? Also keep in mind that at 5 months old they are still pretty young, so it's not really fair to expect perfect eggs so soon. She might come round before long.

Hope I helped :D

Also, are the chickens you mentioned in your post the same ones in your avatar picture? If so, the alleged Buff Orpington looks very much like a Red Star. Take a look at my galleries, I've got heaps of Red Star pics.

Thanks . I will look into the calcium. They are eating Countryside organics layer feed. I thought they were still young, but I found it interesting that the other 2 are laying more regularly. Maybe more time will help, and it is possible that she is younger.
You are probably right about the Red Star. I am new to this. Thanks for your thoughts.
