White Muscovy vs Peking Ducklings

They also have some dark tail feathers. Any help confirming the breed would be appreciated! Also, I should add that we have not sexed them.

Where did they come from? Any chance you can post some full-body pictures too?

I would agree they look more like barred muscovy. Full body shots would help.

Sorry for the late reply! Here are some body shots from a few angles.

In picture #1 and #5, you can see dark on top of Django’s head. You can see this best if you look at him from behind. On his head, and on his back, he is developing black feathers under his yellow fluffy feathers. If I can provide anything else, please let me know

I'm not totally sure that's a muscovy. You will have to wait to see how it feathers out. It does look like a drake to me. It may be a muscovy cross. Legs look a bit long for a muscovy.

Curious what others think.

This is the perfect thread! I hope y’all are still active…
I have Cayugas from a hatchery with life insurance. I lost three of them plus two stripey ducklings from TSC my parents gave me. We realized during this time (killed the ducks at night inside the barn but couldn’t eat them plus a disappeared turkey poult that it was a rat snake and now he’s in a better place).
While waiting for my replacement Cayugas plus two “guard” geese to ship from the hatchery, I picked up two duckies at TSC to keep my lone living Cayuga company. These were already larger than ducklings, all yellow and really bowlegged. After a few days running around with my Cayuga and yummy greens, scratch and brewer’s yeast, they aren’t bowlegged anymore
FF a couple weeks…one I’m pretty sure is a male as he has curly tail feathers and makes a squishy sound compared to the quacks of my Cayuga and the other yellow one. My question is…are they Pekin or Muscovy? Their personality is different from my Cayuga, more subdued and they get along with my adult and poult turkeys whereas the Cayuga is a big of a jerk. They also seem to have more toenails, but I don’t know if that is because they’re more visible because of their coloring. Photos are earlier to latest.

Another thing I just noticed you mentioned guard geese. Well I hate to tell you but geese cannot guard anything. They can sound an alarm when a flying predator is around but they cannot stand up to anything with teeth. We had a member some years back that a mink killed her goose. My 2 geese were always with the ducks and chickens and one day a redtail came down for a visit and killed one of my bantam cochins. I looked out the window and saw my geese and ducks piled up at the gate terrified went out and all the chickens were in hiding all but the one the hawk got. Those geese were as scared as everyone else. Never made a sound.
