Hello Guys,

Hoping someone can help. My rooster has a white powdery substance on his crown and wattles. It started about 5 days ago and I thought he had been under someone when she pooped. But it has stuck around so tonight we decided to wipe it to see if that was what it is. I took some water on a q-tip and very gently wiped where I saw the substance. There is one spot that was worse that the others. The rest looked like a light dusting of powdered sugar. Everywhere I touched he bled.

I also looked in his mouth and saw some white dots in there. He had just eaten so I didn't know if that was the same stuff on his comb or if it was crumble still in his mouth.

Here are some pics. Thank you.

Sometimes a comb injury will turn black or brown then to white as it is healing. Favus is a fungal infection that can affect combs, but it usually is more widespread, chaulky and white. The spots inside the beak could be fungus/yeast if there is no odor. Yeast would be treated with Nystatin or Medistatin ordered online for pigeons. If they appear more yellowish and stink, that can be canker, a protozoan infection also know as trich. That is treated with metronidazole (Aqua Zole) or acidifed copper sulfate in the water.

Thank you. It does appear to be chaulky or powdery, The big blotch was kind of web like almost like it was stuck together. It is pretty widespread, just a light dusting, but pretty much over his comb. He didn't have any black or brown spots before the white. I was a little concerned that wherever I gently rubbed it bled. I didn't notice a foul smell when I opened his beak, but I will take specific notice of that tomorrow. Thank you, again.
