My male India blue peacock will be coming into his adult plumage in the spring. Over the summer I have noticed that he has a couple of white primary feathers on one wing. Does this mean he has the white gene? Would it be possible for him to have pied or white offspring? From what I can tell his mate does not have any white on her and they are unrelated.

He could be carrying either Pied or White. The only sure way to know is to test breed him with different hens. I suggest you catch him and spread his wings and look for more white feathers, it is also good to note if he has any white secondaries and white under his chin or on top of his head. However, a bird does not have to show any white to be split Pied or Dark Pied, there are always exceptions. In this picture is High Spaulding split White, we know this from the breeder that produced him. Notice that the only white showing is a tiny amount under his chin.

I see the tiny bit of white. I will look for more on my bird. This is my first pair or peafowl. I would like to get into some of the other colour mutations later on down the road.
