Hi, I have a white rock roo and had 5 barred rock hens. I am wondering what I would have gotten if I had crossed them. Considering getting more barred rock hens.

If the roo is rececive(sp) white you will get all barred babies, if is dominant white -all white babies.I have only one White Rock hen and she is rececive white but I think some strains of White Rock can be dominant white(not sure)

If it's a recessive white then you would get a sex-linked rock. Black pullets, and barred cockerels.

But if it is dominant white, then white babies it is!

If it's recessive white then it could be masking

homozygous barring which would give all barred chicks

heterozygous barring which would give half barred and half non barred

or Black ( non barred ) which would give sexlinks.

As long as it's not Dom White, the silver genes wouldn't matter if you're using the White Roos on Barred Rock hens to make Black Sexlinks.

Now if you were using White Rock hens to make Red Sexlinks, then they WOULD have to have Silver Genes.
