Ok y'all...I KNOW it's really too early to tell with silkies, but just for fun, hit me with your best guess on sex? This little lady (wishful thinking) is about 6-7 weeks. Fairly timid as far as being picked up but so calm and easy once you have her, doesn't particularly bother much with any of the other chicks. We'll keep her til she either lays or crows (no roosters allowed here), but the suspense is always a struggle! Whaddya think?

This one's giving me mixed messages. I wanna say I can see some streamers which is a rooster trait, but the tail is held pretty low. Then again the body looks a bit upward, but I might just be imagineing things. The photo of the comb is blurry and a bit dark. Do you think you could get a better picture of the comb? What is the chick like personality and behavior wise? Is it adventurous and curious or more shy? Does it make any clucky sounds when eating? Like sort of how roosters call hens when they find food. Actually it might be a bit young for clucky sounds... right now I'm leaning a bit more twards female.

I've had female chicks tidbit food, not a male specific trait, since females do it when they're broody to attract chicks to some food they found. Roosters mimic that to attract hens, to gift her in hopes she'll let him breed her.

A better comb picture would be nice, I agree.

Thanks, Clover! Here are (hopefully) some better shots. It's definitely more shy -- behavior-wise, I lean toward hen. I haven't noticed any sounds when eating, but will be on the lookout for that. I don't know if it matters much, but this one never perches on the top of her brooder. All the other chicks take any opportunity they're given to fly up there and sit, but she prefers being on the ground. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I agree, it looks like a pullet.
