White Silkie roo with black silkie hens

What color babies do you get????
I have a friend that has black hens and I was going to give him a White Roo.
Just wandering...

I would say it just depends... i have never even tried cross breeding with those two breeds. But i would also say most likely black or whight would be your best bet for those two.

It depends on what genes your white is hiding. There are a number of colors you could get from that breeding.

If the hens are truely black and the roo white, the chicks should be black. The chicks will be carrying the white gene and if you breed them back to a white again they should produce some white offspring.

The second generation then should produce all white offspring. Once you get the white to show up you will then get any hidden genes popping out if the parents were not bred true.
