white spikes all around neck of black hen - 360 degrees, feather loss

hi all, is this molting, or mites/lice? should i be worried?!

No idea, need pictures to help you identify.

First thought with feather loss is molting, the white spikes may very well be the shafts of new feathers that are coming in... But honestly can not say without pictures.

Probably new feathers growing in--no matter the color of the feather itself, the sheath surrounding a immature feather is always white.

Always be worried about anything and check with a magnifying glass
if you need to and do not be afraid to get help if need be but if there
aren't any discoloration of little moving critters it most likely is only
new feather growth .........
