White Sport Cream Legbars

Pics
If they do decide to take pictures is should be from directly overhead and from behind (see image at the bottom) and they should try different lighting (indoor/outdoor bright/dim) and different camera settings to see if they can get the chipmunk pattern to pop... The autosexing trait will vary in birds, but if it's strong the white gene doesn't fully mute it in the chicks fluff and sexing may be possible...

The autosexing is one of the things I'm going to try and focus on with my White Sports... I'm also going to experiement with specific light colors to see what light color makes it pop the most...

This is the angle the photo should be taken at...

Here here!! :)

Love love love the legbars I have from your birds by the way :) but they've given me legbar fever lol must have more!!! Lol

I know you got the ones you have now second hand, but next spring when I start to breed them again you are welcome to more... I'll even have white sports available next spring...

I would love that! Absolutely love it!! They're really such nice birds and since I've had them I've been really drumming up more interest in some of my friends with chickens that have never heard of them. They're really rare around here I think and everyone seems interested in them! That and my English Orpingtons I'm still looking for some blue or splash birds of decent quality that I can afford or trade for.

DH2B says I'm obsessed but I know he loves the orps and legbars too he really loves the white sport. She's much larger than I thought she'd get. Such a pretty pretty bird and her eggs are stunning. My phone still won't upload the pictures. :( harumph. That's okay the pic doesn't do them justice anyways. We love the autosexing feature too! And the crests.

Ooh I can't wait to see what my cream pullet lays for color. Are you focusing on blue eggs or not so much?

The green overtones on the Legbar eggs irks me to no end, but for the white sports the first thing I will be focusing on is preserving autosexing, egg color will probably be the second focus once I get enough good white autosexing breeding stock, and know I have autosexing nailed...

I am going to show my white sports (well a pair of them) at the Minnesota Poultry show in 3 weeks. I have picked out a couple nice pullets. My problem is the cockerels.

They have wild crests and terrible combs all but one that has a great comb but little to no crest. I will have to figure out

I hope to have a ton of white sports this coming spring. My trick will be getting balanced combs on the boys.

Yeah I prefer the blue eggs too and I can see why it irks you. I do think the autosexing is more important though along with their vigor and laying ability. I love the idea of your plan and would love to see some pics of all of your legbars if you don't mind. Another thing I would eventually like to work towards is breeding smaller combs being as I'm up in WI I know that large single combs are a struggle.

Awesome! I would love to see pics and let us know how they do!

That is something I likely won't be doing, the upright and large combs will be a focus of my normal colored Legbars, so it will inevitably be a focus of my white line as well even if it's not as focused...

I'm working on developing my own like of 'blue layers' and for those I will be focusing on smaller combs, as the hope is to create a breed true line of blue layers that stands out on looks from other breeds...

I gotcha I guess mostly I think of the huge floppy combs as a problem although the roos stunning combs I do worry about. Even with our proper care and everything we got below -40 last year and did have so minor frost bite issues on combs.
