White spot on head sex link trait?? CONFUSED!!!

Thanks speckledhen!! I bought 8 black sex links chicks at tractor supply. I had been in hospital, all they had left were roosters. At a month old I decided (really thought) 4 were hens and 4 were roosters. Lighter ones being roosters and darker ones being hens.

Everything I read on here was the same. Only the males had the white spot on head. Only the males had the barring.

Your post here with pictures and explanation, shed a whole new light on the situation! I don't have black sex links!! I have barred rocks.

I have nine black peeps. four have white spots on head. Five do not. Could this be sex linked or is it random?
Mothers are black Jersey giants.
Father is a Delaware/Aracauna cross.

with your parent birds, it's not sex linked. The birds with head spots simply inherited some barring from the Delaware part of the father. Since it was the male parent, he gives barring to either gender. So, you'll just have to wait until they're older to determine gender.
