White spots on eggs

5 of our 8 pullets are now laying - this week I have noticed white spots on two eggs. Is this something to be concerned about. These eggs are lighter than any of the others eggs that are being laid. 2nd pic of our other eggs that have been laid

'Speckled' eggs can happen for several different reasons...very few, if any, of which are a 'problem'.

Can be caused by:
Excess or uneven pigment coating.
Excess or uneven cuticle(bloom).
Excess calcium deposits.
Porous eggs can appear speckled.
Some birds lay them consistently, some only once in awhile.
The pigment or bloom can change appearance when wet, then change back when dry again.

As long as bird is getting a good diet and is healthy in every other way, it is no cause for concern.

I haven't given them supplemental so far - I thought the Layer Feed was adequate. Do I need to give more? Most of the eggs that we have had so far have had good hard shells.

Best to have additional calcium available so that birds that do need it can access it.

This is a perfectly normal blip in the laying system. If it continues, though, check how much calcium your hens are getting.

Thank you! The majority of what they are given is the Layer Feed, with some scratch, weeds and fruit/veg thrown in here and there.

All our hens are the same - asian blacks - they are supposedly only brown egg layers (I guess like those in my 2nd picture above)

Ah. Not familiar with those, will have to look them up. I have Black Australorps and Easter Eggers. My BA's eggs are all a little different, too. One lays almost a purplish brown one.
