ok so this is my very first white crested duckling ever. I don’t know what their hair of poof thing is called so please forgive me if I’m calling it the wrong name. So I got a white crested duckling for metal farms about 3 weeks ago. And it’s poof is covering its eye. I lifted up the poof from its eye and he’s growing feathers under it. I don’t know if this could harm his eye or something? How can I fix this? Is it safe to cut it?? Please help. Btw. These pictures aren’t the best but it’s covering his eye. And I don’t know what to do

Here's some basics about the crest:

- a crested duck has a hole in the skull that's covered with fat
- the fat creates this crest
- don't cut or damage it, you can cause brain damage or death in the duck

I have a few, I make absolutely sure they are not bred as the drake can cause brain damage while breeding.

As far as what to do about a lopsided one, I have no clue. It's definitely not right for it to be lopsided, but I've never dealt with that before.

He is cute! Yes you are right...he is a white crested duck!:thumbsup I don't think what else to do with the crest. I don't think you can do anything with them....but "let it grow". Do you know about the crest tho...if not I encourage you to READ this. There is nothing wrong with owning crested duck but to be sure and really understand them do read this:https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/the-truth-behind-crested-ducks.707110/

I will be following this tread to see what happens..good luck!

If you examine the crest you should be able to feel the fat layer under the feathers and might be able to do a little trim . Just make sure you know where the fatty tissue is before trimming

What do you mean by that?
Where are the little afro-ducklings coming from?
Are the ladies given little helmets (Pickelhaube :D) before the drakes are cut loose?
I'm confused now, but that's my normal state...
