Just the membrane, my girls are 2 1/2 years old. Free range all day put themselves up at night.
What a suprise when I picked up that nasty glob of an "egg", she apparently needs more calcium, but what else? Was this just a flop egg? it took her a while to get it out and it smelled funky, almost like a boiled egg then when I tore it open it stunk

I've had shell-less and wind eggs before but never one like this

Likely just a glitch at the egg factory. If it doesn't re-occur frequently I wouldn't worry about it. Just make sure the girls have oyster shell free choice.
