Whiting True Blue from McMurray

I ordered 5 of the true blue about 3 years ago. All were sexed correctly and like Easter eggers no 2 were alike. Pretty good layers but a little flighty. My only problem was all my true blue's layed green eggs. I was thinking about calling the hatchery but a cat got in their coop and did them all in.So I have no idea what Mcmurry might have said about the green eggs. Just for the record though I ordered from murry again last year, and my order was perfect.

I'm sure that I true greens too. Luckily It wasn't a big deal for me as I enjoy green eggs too but I wouldn't have been a happy camper if I was really counting on blue eggs. I just was saying that mistakes happen some times.

Thank you! I dont want you to have to recall bad memories, but was your recent loss related to the breed?

No, it was an illness any chicken can get. She had a severely calcified egg, very high in her reproductive tract. Not egg bound, which is a different thing. When something happens that I don't understand I've committed to taking the bird to the farm vet and that's what I did with her. They took x-rays and the whole nine. There wasn't anything they could do for her so I had them put her down. I kept her alive in my house for 2 weeks waiting for the appointment. It was expensive, but worth it. I need to know what's going on when they're sick.

Ugh. But yes, WTB are always sold out. Get them when they are available. Little trick to McMurray, you don't get charged until 2 weeks before ship date if you select that option at checkout. You can call and cancel at anytime.

This is part of the reason why they are CONSTANTLY updating inventory. A lot of birds are essentially "on hold."

You have to keep checking. All throughout the week there will be times where things become available. They usually last for a few hours. Annoyingly, just get in the habit of checking once daily. The system automatically updates throughout the day

the biggest days are Monday three weeks before hatch when they set eggs, sometimes they release extra availability based on that. Also that entire week leading to the Monday two weeks before hatch is when people are cancelling orders.
