As time goes by these little boogers are getting more flighty. I try to spend time with them each day and weed them from my hand. They do ok with that and calm down but when I first get close it’s like a covey of quail exploding lol.

What I did with mine was I would sit with them and I still do. I allow them to come up to me and jump onto my lap. I coach them over with treats and grain. Most chickens are more scared of you when you're standing than when you're down on their level.

Something to do to work with them by standing is standing when you're offering them treats. Do your treat call, and slowly drop the treats at your feet.

Thinking back, even my most skittish ones were much calmer once they were out in the coop and understood a little more about their world.

The two gray chicks and all the chipmunk ones in the picture EXCEPT the bottom left chipmunk one (she was a CCL female) ended up being my WTB. Took a while to tell the female CCL (who I wasn't sure was female) and the WTB apart. Comb type was my first indicator, and finally at 3-4 weeks the head poofs showed up.

I have a WTB with a feather pattern extremely similar to a male CCL at 4 wks.

The dust-bathing picture was taken with a Canon EOS Rebel T7 with a 75-300mm lens if you are wondering what type of camera was used. I was using a 75-300mm lens on that picture (and a few others of that dust bath) because it allowed me to get good, clear pictures from a distance. I learned the hard way that if I'm too close when the dust is flying, it can ruin the function of the lens.
