There’s a baby chick at this farm. It’s father is a Isabel Orpington. I’m unclear on the mom. The hen raising it is the black hen.

The light Brahma is the mother. Which means the rooster isn’t a true isabel, he’s either an isabel x lavender or just a lavender with leakage. Isabel Orpingtons are partridge under recessive lavender, while lavender orpingtons are black under recessive lavender.Black Australorp, light Brahma.
Black Australorp, light Brahma. What hens could possibly be the mother?
Doesnt the dad have feathered legs too?He has feathered feet so I thought maybe LB but it’s black..
Sorry, I thought you wrote Isabel rooster. I would guess its the light brahma then. But I am bad with genetics and so I wont be much of a help anywaysNo. Orps have clean legs.
Affected by what?Is beak color ever affected by this at all?
Lavender does not change beak color. However, it does dilute red/gold tones to a straw color, which you can see on the rooster in this thread.By the recessive gene? Sorry if this question doesnt make too much sense, but I keep wondering what role beak color has to play in genetics...
