I DO have 3 cats, just not all shown in that picture. Well, 3 indoor cats. We have two outdoor cats as well.

Hello, my name is Hyla. My username Silvia was an old nickname. I first got chickens during the beginning of the pandemic, because I really wanted pets. I was walking daily, and the route passed someone with chickens. I thought they were so cute so I decided to get some.
I currently have 3 chickens: Fleur, a Crèvecœur, Cleopatra, a Silver Phoenix, and Henny Penny, a Barred Rock
I love getting fresh eggs, they taste so much better than store eggs. I love having fluffy babies in my backyard
I love reading, writing, building things, sewing, embroidery, glassblowing, and ceramics
I have around 50 pet fish (6 koi, many goldfish) and a pet Chinese Mantis. He's nearing the end of his lifecycle though
I found BYC when looking up chicken breeds I should buy. BYC had my answers to literally everything, so I decided to make an account

Hello, I am Sandy (I also go by Samm). I am mama to 2 golden retrievers, 2 canaries, one parakeet and one spoiled-rotten, umbrella cockatoo. And now ~ 6 beautiful RIR chickens! They are 2 months old.

I am the mother of 3 grown sons, and the grandma of one, very precious, special-needs grandson.

I am a tole-painter and a glass artist (fused and mosaic) I'm currently working on designs for new ornaments, to mirror my latest obsession... Chickens, of course!

I enjoy gardening and our little cabin in the woods, during the summer months. I'm not a fan of winter, so spend those long months cutting glass

Howdy everyone,
I go by several names on here. Call me anything you like.

I can’t remember the exact time we first got chickens but, it had to be in between 2011 and 2014. The chickens were my older sister’s thing then. And if I’m being honest, I didn’t like them. Now, before you draw your weapons on me please note that this was years ago and I have obviously changed.

Despite not liking the birds I was almost always around them, I was basically my sister’s unpaid hired hand. I was also her unpaid model, I can’t count the amount of times she had me out there in a ridiculously cliché outfit with a chicken on my shoulder while she took photos..dark times.

Then in 2014 she sold all the chickens. I was shocked at how much I missed the daily chores. Apparently I had fallen for the chickens without realizing it.

Eventually I convinced my parents to get more birds. And I’ve had chickens and ducks off and on ever since.

I do have hobbies other than birds of course, a few of them are, writing, cooking/baking, photography, music, riding, skiing, reading, drawing/painting, hiking, etc.

And I am currently working on starting my own business/brand.

I’m going to be breeding chickens and raising them for two months before selling them.
That’s “Broody Rooster Hatchlings”
My goal is for it to be a natural, healthy, and safe alternative to big hatcheries.

And the other thing is more of a brand, I will be selling bake goods, preservatives, produce, etc from my homestead. My homestead is called Broody Rooster Homestead.
