who collects thier chickens feathers? what to do with them?

I have one feather saved... It's a sickle feather from my favorite big white rooster I got as a birthday gift in fifth grade (my very first chicken ever). He passed away when I was in college. I was thinking of him the other day and took it out and held it.

I miss him...

When my hen Apricot was alive last year(she, her sister, and their rooster died because of a weasel attack...) i collected some of their feathers and put them in a baggy when they were just youngsters. Now it's in between some pages in my Bible that my dad gave me.

It's sad to pick up those feathers of my little hen who passed away...it's the only thing I have left (physically) of her and her rooster and sister.

I use em in my art. I've recently started using them in my sculptures. Here's one I did last year, a perhistoric bird. Most of the feathers came from a partridge Wyandotte hen, who died shortly after this was finished. Kinda cool to think that she'll live on in this piece.
